Kyung Bok Goong

Kyung Bok Goong is an official royal palace to the Chosun Dynasty, the last empire of monarchs in Korean History. There are six royal palaces through out in Seoul, Kyung Bok Goong is the biggest and most famous well known through out those six palaces. As an official palace, Kyung Bok Goong served the dynasty for nearly 600 years, presiding over the faith of dynasty from the dawn of its existence in 15th centuries to the fall of Chosun in 20th century. It is located on the north side of Han River, it is one of the most prominent structures found in aerial view of South Korea’s capital, Seoul.

Unification Observatory Tower

Since there is a still armistice between South and North Korea, there is tension between these two countries. There is a truce line in between these two countries and it is called 38 line.  There are Unification Observatory Towers throughout in South Korea, the one in PaJu is only 1hr and half minutes drive from Seoul but the other one is located in Gang Won Do which is more than 4 hour drive from Seoul.

The purpose of this tower is to console pains of division and nostalgia and inscribe unification will. In the observatory, visitors could have views of northern lands. Theses sites are a living experience sites fro unification and security education seeing division relity directly and inscribing unification desire.

Insa-Dong

Insa-Dong first opened in 1914 in North sides of Seoul. They used to be collections of curios and antique arts and used to be called curios road in 1930s. And 1970s, many picture galleries gathered in Insa-Dong and started to create art trend. After 1980s, many stores started to carry curios, antique arts, picture galleries, antique furniture’s, flokcraft, Korean cultural food and so on. There are are a lot of different shows and exhibitions available when visitors get there, so that they could experience in different ways.

This is the place that every visitors goes to when they tour Seoul. Insa-Dong has a lot of competitive stores that sell all those cultural products for very low price. The visitors could learn by looking and experiencing those products and food to learn more about South Korean culture.

Ab Gu Jeong Rodeo Road

Ab Gu Jeong Rodeo Road has been created early 1990s for the main fashion road in South Korea. It has been a trend to hang out and have fun in south side of seoul. It has been hottest place to hang out. Most of young adults goes to this road to have fun and hang out in Ab Gu Jeong Road. In this Road, there are clubs, restaurants, bars, cafés, movie theaters, Departments stores, and so on.

Ab Gu Jeong Rodeo Road can be compare to world wide Beverly Hills Rodeo Drive Road. I personally think this place is the greatest place to enjoy nightlife in Seoul.

Gwang Hwa Moon plaza

Gwang Hwa Moon plaza is located in the central road of the Seoul, South Korea. Gwang Hwa Moon plaza is located in front of Kyung Bok Palace.  This road is called Sae Jong Road and it has 600 years of history. It is recently renovated and opened to civilians on August 1^st 2009. The main purpose of this plaza is to make central road of Seoul green. It used to be just a road with full of motor vehicles.

At the entrance of the Gwang Hwa Moon plaza there are statue of Sae Jong Dae Wang(who is the third king of Cho Sun Empirer and invented language of Korean), and Sun Shin Lee(the most famous general during Cho Sun Empirer) In the center of the plaza,  there are art gallery, cultural history displays,  and galleries.

 

Jung Dong Jin

Jung Dong Jin is located in the east side of the South Korea. This place has beach as well as mountains. The unique about South Korea is they have a lot of places that has both water and mountains. It is not common in most other countries. I recently went to Jung Dong Jin with my girlfriend in 2009 summer for vacation. I had really good time there. They built a gigantic cruise on the top of a mountain, and you can see most of the views around Jung Dong Jin. There is a train tour in Jung Dong Jin station. Most of people come visit Jung Dong Jin to see the sun rise in the morning with their friends. In this train route actually follows the beach lines so that you can see how one side is water mean while the other side is mountains. I highly recommend this place to go with your boyfriend/girlfriend or spouse.

Halla Mountain

Hallasan (mountain) is a shield volcano on Jeju Island of South Korea. Hallasan is the highest mountain of South Korea. The area around the mountain is a designated national park, the Hallasan National Park. Hallasan is commonly considered to be one of the main mountains of South Korea. Baekdosan is the highest mountain that is located in North Korea. Hallasan stands out at the center of South Korea’s southernmost island, boasting exquisite landscapes due to its varied volcanic topography and vegetation distribution ranging vertically through the subtropical, temperate, frigid and alpine zones. The special nature of this area led to its being designated and managed as a national park in 1970, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 2002, a World Natural Heritage Site in 2007. Muljangori Oreum registered as a Ramsar Wetland in 2008.

I definitely suggest going to Jeju Island if you are planning to visit South Korea because it is one of the few areas in the world that you could experience not only mountains but also beach.

N Seoul Tower

Seoul Tower is a communication and observation tower located in central Seoul, South Korea. The tower was built in 1969, and opened to the public in 1980, the tower has been a symbol of Seoul and measures 236.7 m (777 ft) in height (from the base) and tops out at 479.7 m (1,574 ft) above sea level. It has also been known as the Nam San Tower or Seoul Tower. After the tower’s original owner merged with the CJ corporation, it was renamed the N Seoul Tower (official name CJ Seoul Tower).

Most visitors ride the Nam San cable car up to the mountain, and then walk to the tower. The tower features a gift shop and restaurants on the ground floor. Visitors may go up the tower for a fee. There are four-observation deck which is the revolving restaurant, rotates at a rate of one revolution every 48 minutes, as well as gift shops and two restaurants. Most of the city of Seoul can be seen from the top. There is a Nam San Park near to the N Seoul Tower, which is the biggest park in Seoul. Visitors go to the Park after visiting the Tower.
